IP address reference
An IP address is the public network address used to route traffic across the internet. When you look up an address, IP Atlas compares it with known network ranges and returns practical routing context: the country, region, city, autonomous system number, provider, ISP, organization, and approximate latitude and longitude when those fields are available.
This information is useful for website analytics, security reviews, localization, fraud signals, network troubleshooting, abuse triage, and understanding why traffic appears to originate from a specific provider or geography. The result describes a network endpoint, not a verified person, household, or device.
IPv4 addresses use four decimal numbers, such as 8.8.8.8. IPv6 addresses use hexadecimal groups, such as 2001:4860:4860::8888. IP Atlas supports both formats so you can compare older IPv4 routing data with modern IPv6 network allocations.
